Fire at PGI, files burnt

A fire broke out at the animal house of Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences here on Thursday morning. Though no one was injured, old files and papers, probably of old patients, were gutted. Panic caused by the incident disturbed attendants and staff.
Fire tenders were able to reach the spot within minutes of the incident as they are located right opposite the institute. According to chief fire officer, Lucknow, Abhay Bhan Pandey, a short circuit in the basement caused the fire. “Thick smoke was a bigger problem than fire and firemen took more than an hour to control the situation. while no one was injured,” he said.
