Fire breaks out at solvent factory
Updated: 2015-11-16-11:33
A solvent plant was engulfed in fire early on Sunday morning at Por. Barrels and a tanker containing inflammable solvents at the Advance Syntex Private Limited caught fire at around 6.30 am.
According to the city fire brigade the fire was caused due to short circuit at the plant.
Although no casualty was reported, nearly six barrels with 200 litres of solvent each were destroyed, said fire officials.
“Nine firemen were required to douse the fire. It took us over an hour to bring the situation under control. No injuries were reported from the spot as there were not many people there,” said a fireman from the GIDC fire station who was deployed at the spot.
Although the barrels contained inflammable fluids, there was no explosion at the spot.
