Tata Indica catches fire at Trinity Circle, driver unhurt

Panic prevailed at Trinity Circle for a short while after a car caught fire on Tuesday morning. Smoke started billowing from a Tata Indica which was waiting at the signal.Soon the vehicle was in flames, but the driver had jumped out when he saw the smoke. The car was gutted.
Fire control room officials said they received a call from a passerby around 11am and a fire engine was dispatched from the Mayo Hall fire station. “It took around 45 minutes for our men to douse the fire and move the car,” said the official.
Anirudh Abhyankar, a designer who was travelling in an auto, reported the fire. “I saw smoke but could not see whether driver was inside vehicle or not,” he told TOI. Once the fire started vehicles started moving towards the sig nal in order to avoid the blaze, which caused chaos, he said.
