At least 60 families lost their homes after a fire razed 20 houses in an informal settler area in Quezon City on Saturday afternoon, the police said.
In a phone interview with GMA News Online, PO3 Regundina Sosa of the Cubao Police Station 7 said the fire started at around 12:25 p.m. within Brgy. Bagong Lipunan ng Crame.
Sosa said the fire was declared under control at around 1:27 p.m. and out by 1:48 p.m.
She said there were no reported injured or dead from the fire, which was apparently caused by faulty electrical wiring.
The fire allegedly started at the third floor of one of the houses in the area.
The initial investigation showed the fire started shortly before 1 p.m. and reached the third alarm, spreading to 19 other houses.
Arson investigators estimated that some P500,000 worth of properties were destroyed in the fire. – VVP, GMA News
