Visa processing centre’s door set on fire for the second time

The door of a visa processing centre located on the sixth floor of Mittal Towers, MG Road, was set on fire by unidentified miscreants on Sunday night. The incident came to light on Monday morning when staff arrived at the centre which processes applications for visa to Israel and a few other countries. An empty kerosene bottle and a printout of an Islamic prayer was also recovered from the scene, Ulsoor police said. The same door was set on fire on August 2, 2014.Police investigation had hinted at a fight between owners of some office spaces and their association to be the reason behind the fire. However, no arrest was made then.
Following the incident, security was beefed up at the building and police questioned a few men, including some owners and others. “We have initiated a detailed probe, including verification of the surveillance camera footage and inquiries with the security staff about visitors,” police said.
DCP (East) Satish Kumar said no arrests have been made for Sunday’s incident. “We have definite clues about the mischief mongers. Investigation has revealed that personal enmity between a few person inside resulted in the incident,” he said.
