Five vehicles set on fire at Khamla
Updated: 2015-12-04-03:07
Five vehicles, including a three-wheeler, were set on fire under mysterious circumstances at Khamla’s Sindhi Colony in the wee hours of Thursday. The incident sent ripples in the locality, after the vehicles were found engulfed in flames in front of their owners’ houses.
Four two-wheelers belonging to Kennedy Karamchandani and an autorickshaw owned by Dilip Hemnani were targeted, leaving the vehicles completely gutted. The neighbours were stunned to seeing their vehicles on fire. Though cops were alerted, Karamchandani claimed that he was clueless why no one reached the place from Rana Pratap Nagar police station for a few hours.
Karamchandani, who owns a business at Cotton Market, said the family was left in a lurch since they did not have any vehicle at their disposal. “We faced a lot of hardship in registering an offence too, since the documents had turned to ashes along with the vehicles, as they were kept in the dickeys,” said Karamchandani, who is a political and social worker too. He did not wish to name any suspect or anyone with previous enmity. “We were sleeping when the incident took place. Some noise from outside prompted us to rush out. We also alerted the fire department,” he said.
Karamchandani said that police patrolling is rare in his locality. He later approached Rana Pratap Nagar police station to register an offence against unidentified persons.
