A fierce fire raged through an air-conditioning factory and an electrical appliance manufacturing plant located in the same compound in Pak Kret district late Friday night, damaging five warehouses but causing no casualties.
Ten fire trucks from Pak Kret municipality were sent to the scene. The fire spread quickly to engulf five production warehouses of the two factories. Flames tens of metres high shot up into the air, prompting the deployment of another 30 fire trucks and firefighters from Muang municipality and nearby areas to help combat the raging blaze.
As there were many gas containers on the premises, rescue workers were sent to move them from the area. It took more than three hours for firefighters to bring the fire under control, Thai media reported on Saturday.
The five warehouses were very heavily damaged and the extent of the loss is still being estimated. Police are investigating the cause of the fire.
