10 Houses Razed In Fire In Karak
Updated: 2015-12-19 12:00
KUANTAN, Dec 19 (Bernama) — Ten wooden houses were destroyed in a fire, resulting in losses estimated at RM650,000, in Kampung Baru China, Karak, near here, Friday night.
Fortunately, all the 41 victims of the fire, including a handicapped person, escaped unscathed.
According to Fire Supt II Ashrul Riezal Asbar from the Operations Division of the Pahang Fire and Rescue Department, (JBPM) the fire was believed to have started in the kitchen of a centrally-located house.
He said JBPM dispatched three officers, 20 firemen and 19 auxiliary firemen from Karak, Bentong, Manchis, Perting, Temerloh and Maran to the scene after getting a call on the fire at 10.07 pm.
“The fire was put out at 2.25 am (today). Among the problems faced was that the houses were built close to one another which allowed the fire to spread quickly,” he said when contacted here, Saturday.
