Fire destroys house in Lumut

A FIRE yesterday destroyed a house, which had four occupants, in Lumut. A report released by the Fire and Rescue Department stated that at 1.46pm, an emergency call was made which led to the deployment of three fire engines from the Sungai Liang Fire Station to the location at Spg 455-14 Kampong Sungai Bakong, Lumut.
Twenty-one personnel led by SO Muhd Ali bin Hassan the Station Commander for Sungai Liang Fire Station arrived at the scene at 1.59pm, where the flames were found to have escalated and spread to most parts of the first floor which was made of mostly wood, the statement added.
The blaze was brought under control within five minutes.
The Fire and Rescue Department informed that the estimated loss due to the fire is around $105,000, which includes $25,000 for damages to property and $80,000 for housing damages. Two vehicles were also damaged.
The house which belonged to Allahyarhamah Hajah Salmah binti Wahab, has been occupied by Faizal bin Haji Metassan, Dayangku Maslelawati binti Pengiran Abdul Karim, Md Ariffin bin Haji Timbang and four-year-old Mohd Fuad bin Mohd Salleh.
It is further stated that the whole top floor of the house is completely destroyed due to the flames. The cause of the incident is still under investigation.
