Fire damages Dena bank

The Vasco branch of Dena bank caught fire in the small hours of Saturday causing a loss of 80,000. Fire officials said a door, windows, modems, ATM rolls etc were damaged in the blaze.
The Vasco fire station received a call informing them about the incident at about 1.10am on Saturday morning.
The bank, situated opposite the Damodar temple on the Swatantra path, was locked on Friday evening. Later, at night, some persons noticed smoke coming out from the premises. When a fire tender reached the site it was very difficult for them to effect entry from the main door as it had caught fire. Some fire fighters then entered from the rear to douse the blaze. The fire was so huge that two fire tenders were summoned at the site.
The fire fighters returned at about 3:30am. Property worth 2 lakh was saved by the fire fighting staff. On Saturday morning, even as fire fighters were fighting the blaze, a huge crowd was seen outside the bank.
