36 houses gutted in Saptari‚ Bara

RAJBIRAJ: As many as 36 houses were reduced to ashes in different fire incidents in Saptari and Bara districts on Monday night.
Twenty-four houses owned by nine families were completely destroyed in Mainhasahashrabahu of the Saptari district. Police said they had to pull down six houses with the help of locals to prevent the fire from engulfing other houses in the vicinity.
Houses belonging to Sabir Miya, Mohammad Kalam, Mohammad Akthar Miya, Mohammad Jayabul Miya, Salim Miya, Fida Husain, Momtar Miya and Join Miya were turned to ashes, police said. Preliminary
investigation in the incident showed that property worth Rs 4.1 million was destroyed in the incident.
A team from the Armed Police Force and Nepal Police assisted by fire fighters fought the blaze for three hours with support from locals, before it could be brought under control, police said. In another fire mishap in the district, seven houses were reduced to ashes at Sakarpapura VDC in Saptari, damaging property worth Rs 1.4 million.
Similarly, five houses were gutted in Madhurijabdi VDC, Bara, yesterday night. The blaze that had started from the house of Ajij Miya Mansuri had engulfed the houses owned by Abdul Rahim, Bhimal Miya, Safi Miya, and Shambhu Yadav. The Armed Police Force and Nepal Police took one-and-half hour to contain the blaze.
