DENGKIL, Jan 18 (Bernama) — Thirty students from the Al-Redzuan Tahfiz Religious School at Kg Dato Ahmad Razali here are left homeless after the school’s hostel was ravaged in a fire tonight.
However, there were no casualties reported in the blaze, which occurred at about 8.45pm, at the double-storey building that accomodated the hostel and a dining hall.
The school hostel supervisor Usamah Ishak said during the incident all the students, aged between eight and 18 years, were not in the hostel as they were performing the Isyak prayers at the mosque.
“The incident was discovered when I returned from the mosque. The fire spread very fast and we have no time to do anything.
“The students have to stay at the As-Shariff mosque tonight while awaiting help from the Social Welfare Department,” he told Bernama when met at the scene.
Meanwhile, Cyberjaya Fire Station chief senior assistant superintendent Izman Adnan said two fire engines with 18 personnel were rushed to the scene after receiving a distress call at 9 pm.
“The cause of the fire is still under investigation,” he said.
