Fire razes stalls in Chiang Mai

A fire broke out at a row of stalls selling shoes, clothes and other articles behind Chotana Bazaar in tambon Chang Phuak of Muang district late on Saturday night, police said.
The fire started at about 10.30pm and quickly spread to engulf the enire row of about 40 vending stalls roofed with corrugated sheet.
Three fire engines from Tambon Chang Phuak Municipality were able to bring the fire under control in 40 minutes after all of the shops and goods in them were completely destroyed.
A shop in a commercial building nearby was also partly damaged.
The damage was initially estimated at 500,000 baht.
Police were investigating to establish what caused the fire and where it started.
