Warehouse Storing Cotton Bales In PKFZ Goes Up In Smoke

PORT KLANG, Feb 11 (Bernama) — Five lots of a warehouse storing cotton bales at the Port Klang Free Zone, Pulau Indah here caught fire early this morning.
Selangor Fire and Rescue director Zamri Che Din said three of the five lots of warehouses were completely destroyed while one lot was 30 per cent gutted and another suffered 10 per cent damage.
“We received a call at 6.21 am and the first fire engine arrived at the scene at 6.47 am, the fire was brought control under control at 8.09 am,” he told reporters at the scene.
Zamri said no loss of life was reported in the incident while the cause of fire and total amount of losses were still being investigated.
He said 25 officers and firemen with seven fire engines from Fire and Rescue stations in Port Klang, Kota Raja, Andalas, Sungai Pinang, Shah Alam and West Port were involved in the fire fighting operation.
