Fire at Dunlop plastic factory, locals panic

A fire broke out at a factory in Dunlop bridge area, in the northern part of the city, disrupting the traffic movement.
A three-storey building housing a plastic factory was totally gutted and 25 fire tenders were pressed in to service to douse the fire.
Locals panicked as there is a petrol pump in the area, apart from a gas store.
Some residents of the area were taken ill owing to the billowing smoke.
The factory did not have any fire-fighting equipment forcing them to source water from a distance, said an official.
However, no one was trapped inside, confirmed an official.
