Fire hits Cotabato’s old social welfare building
Updated: 2016-02-25-09:34
Fire of yet undetermined origin destroyed Wednesday the old building of the North Cotabato Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office.
Fire Senior Inspector Noa Pacalda, provincial Bureau of Fire Protection chief, said that at least P5 million in property were lost in the 30-minute fire that started at 7 p.m.
Citing initial information, Pacalda said the fire that started from the tool room near the old PSWDO building also destroyed at least three vehicles parked at the nearby parking area.
“We are still conducting an investigation into the cause of fire,” Pacalda said, adding that a faulty electical wiring could be a possible culprit.
“All possible angles are being investigated,” he said.
In 2013, fire destroyed the old building of the Integrated Provincial Health Office. Damage to property was estimated at P5 million.
Arson investigators blamed faulty wiring for the fire.
