IPOH, March 1 (Bernama) — A fire-fighting operation involving 10.11 hectares of forest land at the 45km Jalan Simpang Pulai, near Kampung Raja in Cameron Highlands was put on hold last night.
Perak Fire and Rescue Department (Zone I) chief, Ruhisha Harris said the operation ceased temporarily at 10pm.
Nevertheless, he said the department was still monitoring the situation in the area which had caught fire yesterday afternoon.
He said a survey carried out at 10am by Simpang Pulai Fire and Rescue Department chief Rozmi Che Hamat, along with orang asli residents of Kampung Pos Raya found no fires.
“There was only smoke from the stumps and leftover embers,” added Ruhisha when contacted by Bernama here today.
He said the department received a call pertaining to the fire at 1.47pm yesterday before a team of firemen from the Simpang Pulai Fire and Rescue Station went to the scene.
