Fire at Sirsaim guts 3 shops, one house

Three shops and a house were damaged in a fire, resulting in a loss of around 5 lakh at Sirsaim early Sunday morning.
Mapusa fire and emergency services personnel rushed to the site and controlled the fire from spreading further thereby saving goods worth lakhs of rupees.
According to the Mapusa fire station, at around 5.30am a local, Manuel Fernandes, hearing some sounds came out of his house and found his house and three shops attached to it engulfed in the flames.
The premises has three shopsa two-wheeler garage, a barber’s shop and an auto electrical dealer. Sources said that the fire broke out in the garage and later spread, gutting the barbers shop as well as the auto electrical dealer’s shop. A part of the house has also been damaged.
Mapusa fire station staff, after receiving the call, rushed to the spot and with the help of one fire tender brought the flames under control.
The fire damaged two bikes and three motorcycle engines which were in the garage and the entire barber’s shop. The house and auto electrical dealer also suffered losses.
