Fire at Raikot grid powerhouse

Fire broke out at Raikot grid powerhouse of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) on Tuesday disturbing supply to Raikot and about 20 surrounding villages.
Grid in charge Baldev Singh said the fire broke out in the afternoon and reason behind the incident was not yet clear.
He added that a technical team had reached the spot and was working to repair the grid so that power supply could be restored.
Additional divisional fire officer (ADFO), Ludhiana, Bhupinder Singh said as many as five fire tenders were rushed to the spot, including one each from Ludhiana, Jagraon, Malerkotla and Barnala. “The fire officials were able to douse the flames in an hour and no casualty has been reported,” he added.
Safety checks
A team from the fire safety department, including MC additional commissioner Davinder Singh and ADFO Bhupinder Singh, checked the fire safety arrangements at the Pavilion Mall on Tuesday.
ADFO Bhupinder Singh said that the visit was for checking the fire safety arrangements so that the security of the residents could be assured. The arrangements were fine, he added.
