Police are still trying to determine the identity of a person found dead inside a burned car in Barangay Busay, Cebu City, yesterday. According to unconfirmed reports the victim is a foreigner.
A charred body, believed to be of a foreign national, was discovered inside a burnt vehicle in Barangay Busay, Cebu City.
According to Barangay Busay Councilman Kevin Sanchez, they immediately responded to the report of concerned citizens informing them that a car, a RAV4, was on fire.
According to witnesses, Sanchez said a public jeepney was seen pulling the vehicle and a foreign national was also seen coming out and getting away from the car. The witnesses then saw the car on fire.
Sanchez said while waiting for the SOCO, he instructed his tanod to look for the driver of the public jeep and later found out that the foreigner seen coming out from the car was staying in a hotel in the city.
Operatives of the homicide section of Cebu City Police Office went to the hotel but the foreigner was not there.
According to Security Guard Fermin Torreon, the foreigner checked-in their hotel on Wednesday
“Alas siete sa gabie na siya ni check-in. Nag inusara ang langyaw nga nagpaila nga Kelvin Clien, wala magpakita sa iyang ID kay nahabilin ug i-apas ra daw, unya kanang iyang sakyanan gubaon na daan kay giguroy man usab na padulong sa garahean,” Torreon said.
Senior Fire Officer 2 Rommel Bangcog told the Freeman that they have to further investigate the case to identify the burnt body, as well as the foreigner seen walking away from the car.
But yesterday, a certain Jocelyn Wilson from Toledo City went to Cebu Rolling Hills to check if the burnt body is of her missing husband, Timothy Wilson.
According to Wilson, her husband was picked up yesterday morning by a certain Ratty from Calatrava, Negros in their house at Toledo City. Since then, Jocelyn said she could not contact her husband.
“Sige lamang ring iyang phone ug walay motubag, hinungdan naay paryente nako makadungog sa balita ako gyud gituyo ari sa siyudad,” said Jocelyn.
Jocelyn said that the certain Ratty was indebted to her husband.
“Naay utang sa akong bana nga mobalor 500,000 US dollars kay nalugi ang mining (business) niini,” she said.
