Property worth Rs 20 M gutted in Sankuwasabha fire

SANKHUWASABHA: Property worth around Rs 20 million was gutted in fire that claimed over five houses in Khadbari-1 in the district on the wee morning hours on Monday.
According to local journalist Shyam Niroula, food, clothes, utensils, jewelleries, money bills were burnt to ashes by the blaze that broke out from the house of Krishnaman Shakya, and spread to other houses in the neighbourhood.
In the incident, Shakya’s cash amount of eight lakhs was reduced to ashes, police confirmed.
However, no human casualties were reported.
The fire started at around 2:45 am from the electrical goods outlet of Shakya due to short circuit which spread to the shops of Dinesh Shreshta, Ram Kaji Rai, Ramesh Lohar, and Bharat Shakya.
The blaze turned the houses that were loaded with goods in ashes.
The fire was finally controlled at around 7:45 am with the help of Nepali Army, Nepal Police personnel along with locals after almost four hours of hard work.
There is no availability of fire engine in the district.
