Fire at two-storey cooler factory in Hasanpura

Panic gripped Hasanpura area when a major fire broke out at a two-storey cooler manufacturing factory on Friday morning. The fire broke out at the ground floor, soon reaching the second floor, leaving a labourer and his family members trapped. To save themselves from the blaze, they hid in a bathroom. The labourer fell unconscious; however, the fire fighters managed to rescue him and his family members safely.
According to the police, the building belongs to one Abdul Anees. On the ground floor, coolers are manufactured, while on the first floor, one Shamsher Singh, a labourer, lives as tenant with his family. The fire broke out around 8 am. It soon spread to the first floor. Shamsher and his family members – Sirajuddin, Farman, Riyazuddin, three women and two children were in the house at that time.
By the time, they realized the building was on fire, all the exit routes were out of bound due to flames. All the people got trapped. Some of them closed themselves in a bathroom. While three others managed to climb to the rooftop and then jumped over to the roof of the adjacent house.
Fire fighters led by chief fire officer Sanjay Sharma controlled the fire by pumping water into the first floor and then used snorkel ladder to rescue the people trapped there. tnnOne of the victims, Sirajuddin lost consciousness due to suffocation. However, the promptness of the fire fighters saved their lives.
The cause of fire is stated to be short circuit. It took five fire tenders nearly three hours to douse the fire.
