Mother, 3 children die in Divisoria fire

A mother and her three young children died in a fire that struck in Divisoria in Tondo, Manila late Sunday.
Authorities identified the fatalities as Edilyn Sunga and her children, Edison, Mikaela and Markie, aged four to seven.
The victims got trapped in their room on the second floor of the New Oriental Market in Divisoria.
The fire struck the building at around 11 p.m.
The blaze spread to the other rooms and stores in the building. It also damaged a residential building beside the establishment before it was put out by firemen.
Senior Superintendent Jaime Ramirez of the Bureau of Fire Protection in Manila said they were still determining the cause of the fire.
Ramirez said the cost of the fire’s damage was pegged at P5 million.
