Goods worth lakhs gutted in fire at saw mill in Savli

A major fire broke out at a saw mill in Savli taluka of the district on Tuesday afternoon. Goods including raw materials worth lakhs were gutted in the fire. The fire broke out at around 12.30 pm at Geeta Saw Mill.
Fire tenders from Savli, Manjusar GIDC, Halol and Vadodara city rushed to the spot to douse the fire.
Sources said that the shortage of water supply in the mill premises led to the spread of the fire. “The fire has been brought under control. The firefighters took nearly four hours to douse the fire. Combustible material and strong winds led to the spread of fire,” said a senior fire official.
