Boy dies in house fire, TMC blamed
Updated: 2016-03-26-05:22
A 14-year-old boy died and his parents were injured in a fire that gutted their house in Betai Natunpara near Tehatta police station in Nadia early on Friday. Though it is still not clear what led to the fire, there have been allegations that explosives were stocked in the house for the forthcoming elections.
“This was not a simple fire but a clear case of bomb explosion, which police suppressed on the instruction of Trinamool,” said CPM MLA Ranjit Mondal said. The MLA demanded an analysis of pictures taken from the house.
“A fire generally does not swallow a pucca wall totally. It is only possible in an explosion,” Mondal added. Local Trinamool leadership, however, rejected the claim. “There is no political connection with the incident,” said Trinamool district president Gouri De. Investigators, too, refused to jump to conclusion. “Fire brigade primarily suspects that kerosene cans were stocked in the house triggered the fire,” said a police officer. “The kid has been identified as Suman Ghosh. His parents Pintu and Sabita are under treatment at Tehatta Subdivisional Hospital,” said Nadia (rural) ASP Tanmay Sarkar.
