KUALA LUMPUR, March 29 (Bernama) — A man met a fiery end when his BMW car caught fire at a Touch n Go lane of the Sprint Expressway toll plaza near Damansara here early today.
Petaling Jaya District Police chief ACP Mohd Zani Che Din said the victim was believed to be sleeping in the car with the engine running when the mishap occurred at 5 am.
“According to the workers at the toll plaza, the car stopped at the Touch n Go lane at around 4 am and the man got out and moved to the front passenger’s seat and fell asleep.
“The workers tried to wake him up, but the car was locked and all the windows rolled up…about an hour later, the car’s engine caught fire,” he told reporters here today.
Mohd Zani said police were in the midst of identifying the victim and based on records, the car was registered to an owner in Taman Canning, Perak.
