Updated: 2016-04-07 12:00
SHAH ALAM, April 7 (Bernama) — Two brothers were burnt to death while their mother and septuagenarian grandmother escaped when fire destroyed their house in Ijok early today.
The charred bodies of Muhammad Darnish Irfan Muhd Azmi, 15, and Muhammad Darnish Israk, 14, were found in a room at the house in Jalan Batu 4, Kampung Batu 4.
During the blaze which began about 4am, their mother, Zuriyana Marjunit, 40, and grandmother, Sainah Saidi, 70, who were asleep in a separate room, screamed and alerted the brothers of the blaze.
Kuala Selangor police chief, Supt Roslan Abdullah said however, the siblings did not respond.
The duo were believed to have been overcome by thick smoke which engulfed their room.
Roslan said initial investigations revealed the fire originated from the middle room before spreading rapidly to the rest of the house.
He believed the blaze was caused by short-circuit.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Mohd Sani Harul said firemen put out the blaze about 4.50am.
The bodies were sent to the Tanjong Karang Hospital.
