Fire at Olpad social forestry’s nursery

A major fire erupted at the logs storage plot of social forestry department’s nursery near Atodra village in Olpad on Thursday evening. However, no casualty was reported.
Fire and emergency department sources said the logs kept in the open plot at the nursery caught fire due to short-circuit in the overhead electricity line of Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company Limited (DGVCL). Dozens of logs and dry grass immediately caught fire. At least three fire tenders were rushed to the spot to extinguish the fire.
A fire officer said, “The nursery is owned by the social forestry department. All the logs kept in the open plot caught fire. It took two hours for us to gain control over the fire.” tnn
