Massive fire at furniture godown

A massive fire broke out at a furniture godown at Sitapura industrial area during early hours on Saturday. Goods worth lakhs were gutted; however, no loss to life was reported in the incident.
According to the officials of fire department, the fire broke out at 12.45 am on Saturday when the godown was closed. “Due to the upcoming marriage season, a good quantity of furniture and raw material was lying in the godown. After we got information about the fire at least 12 fire tenders were rushed to the spot,” said an officer of the fire department. Due to the massive fire, many people of the nearby areas woke up amid fear. The firemen took almost three hours to douse the flames. “We have also found some drums at the spot containing chemicals which could have made the fire more dangerous,” said an officer.
Electricity of the factory and nearby areas was cut until the fire was doused. tnn
