Fire at Gaughat railway underbridge, traffic hit

Rail traffic between Allahabad and Naini junctions, on New Delhi-Howrah route, came to a standstill after fire broke out at Gaughat railway under-bridge.
Movement of several trains was affected and traffic resumed only 45 minutes after the railway line was repaired.
According to preliminary reports, driver of a goods train, coming from Naini and moving towards Allahabad station, noticed smoke billowing out of the railway dot bridge around 11.00 am. Fire tenders were immediately rushed to the spot. One of the railway track was also found damaged. Railway staff made efforts to repair the distorted railway track.
The repair of the track was completed by 12:45 pm and the fitness of the track was given by concerned PWI. According to preliminary reports, the incident might have occured due to accumulation of garbage between the tracks, which caught fire. Movement of several trains were affected, including train number 12791Secunrabad-Danapur Express, train number 12505 North East Express, train number 15160 Sarnath Express, train number 12307 Howrah-Jodhpur Express, 12311 Howrah-Kalka Mail and other trains.
Talking to TOI, chief public relations officer of NCR Bijay Kumar said, “A committee has been formed to probe the incident.” He ruled out any foul play and termed the incident as accidental.
