SEREMBAN, April 14 (Bernama) — A 30-year-old woman met a fiery end when the car she was driving burst into flames in an accident at KM246 North-South Expressway near the Rembau toll plaza exit early Thursday.

District police chief ACP Muhamad Zaki Harun said in the incident around 5.30 am, Nurul Aida Ibrahim was driving a Perodua Kenari; a passenger in the car, Syazila Zailani, 30, sustained serious injuries.

“According to the injured victim, they were heading to Kuala Lumpur from Johor Baharu when her friend lost control of the car which veered to the left before turning turtle and catching fire.

“She managed to free herself but Nurul Aida was trapped, and firefighters had to extricate the body,” he said.

Muhamad Zaki said the deceased’s remains were sent to the forensic unit at Tuanku Jaafar Hospital where the injured victim is also being treated.

Meanwhile in DUNGUN, a 20-year-old woman died after the car she was in, crashed into the fence of a homestay abode at Jalan Pantai Teluk Bidara, early today.

In the incident at 1 am, Nur Mastura Basiron died at the scene due to severe head injuries while the driver of the Proton Iswara, Mohamed Mustaqim Mohamad Apandi, 20, from Pekan Meru, Klang sustained head and hand injuries.

The duo were heading to Bandar Dungun from Universiti Teknologi Mara.

District police chief Supt Ahmad Zailani Yaacub confirmed the incident when contacted.

He said the remains of Nur Maztura from Kampung Cheras Baru, Kuala Lumpur have been sent to the forensic unit at Dungun Hospital while the injured victim is also being treated at the same hospital.
