5 houses gutted in Panchthar wildfire

PHIDIM: As many as five houses turned into cinder after they caught fire extended from nearby community forests in Panchthar district on Thursday.
Police said the wildfires entered into the residential area on Thursday afternoon from nearby Kukurmara and Kalsingh community forests in Phidim Municipality-6.
Houses belonging to locals Laxmi Adhikari, Harilal Ghimire, Devi Bhandari, Trilochan Nepal and Santosh Rai were completely destroyed in the fire.
According to DSP Krishna Prasad Koirala, a team of police personnel was deployed under the command of Sub-Inspector Chiranjeevi Regmi and locals were trying to take the wildfires under control.
It has also been learnt that some livestock were also killed in the incident.
Meanwhile, the Panchthar District Police Office estimated the loss at around Rs 2.5 million, but said that the complete details would be collected on Friday only.
