Bhiwandi building fire under control; all residents rescued, three injured

A massive fire broke out on Tuesday morning in a multistorey building in Kashimpura area in Bhiwandi, a Mumbai’s suburb. The fire led to panic as around 150 people living on the third floor of the Saeed buidling were trapped inside for sometime.
They were later rescued by fire officials with the help of locals.
The fire officials first used ladders and then cranes to rescue the stranded people.
At least three people have been injured in the incident. They have been taken to IGM hospital.
The three had jumped from the building in panic.
The fire started in a powerloom unit situated on the ground floor of the building and soon spread to other floors.
Several fire tenders and water tankers were pressed into service to douse the flames. It took the fire tenders over an hour to bring the fire under control.
Fire officials said they rushed to the spot after getting information and started evacuating the residents using ladders.
Around seven fire tenders from Bhiwandi and Thane were rushed on the spot. Fire officials said the situation is now under control.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
