Fire at Anand Niketan school

A major fire broke out at Anand Niketan School located near Sindhu Bhavan on SG Road on Wednesday afternoon. However as it was a holiday, no students were present when the fire broke out in of the fibred dome on the school campus.
Divisional fire officer M P Mistry said they reached the spot after receiving a call at about 4 pm in the noon. “The Fire broke out as a result of short circuit in the fibred dome reducing the entire structure to ashes. Stationery and other items in the dome got gutted,” he said.
Additional chief fire officer Rajesh Bhatt said they extinguished the fire within 30 to 45 minutes. “However, the thick and black smoke emitting out of the fire could be visible from about three to four kilometers causing panic. The smoke got thicker and black as the fiber structure had caught fire” he said.
Director of Anand Niketan Group of Schools Nashy Chauhan said that fire broke in the Anand Niketan, Bodakdev branch due to short circuit.
Meanwhile, a minor fire broke out at Gandhinagar Civil Hospital which was extinguished by the staff.
