Updated: 2016-04-17-00:00
Residents search for items they could use to build new houses yesterday after a fire destroyed 50 homes in Barangay Palatiw, Pasig City Friday.
A fire of still unknown origin broke out at a residential area in Pasig City on Friday afternoon and left four people dead, including two children.
The victims were initially identified as Fidel Lacia, 60; Quelcy Mhiel Peligro, 4; Joe Anne Faye Peligro, 2; and Enrique Sanchez, 64.
Fire investigators said the fire started on the second floor of Widney Rivas’ house at past 3 p.m. The blaze destroyed around 50 homes along F. Santos Street in Barangay Palatiw, leaving 100 families homeless.
They have yet to determine how the fire started.
The fire reached fifth alarm shortly before 4 p.m. and was put out an hour later.
The local government has converted two covered courts in Barangays Palatiw and Santo Tomas as evacuation centers for the affected residents.
