Firefighters put out a fire that hit a residential area on Tambunting street, Sta. Cruz, Manila yesterday.
Police are tracking down a suspected drug addict for allegedly starting a fire at a residential area in Sta. Cruz, Manila yesterday afternoon.
Rafael Rodaje, 35, escaped after the fire that left at least 1,000 residents homeless along Tambunting street, Aurora Boulevard Extension.
A resident told The STAR that Rodaje got mad at his landlord for repeatedly asking for his rental, which had been delayed for several months.
Rodaje reportedly set his room on fire before fleeing at 11:40 a.m.
Fire Officer 1 Freddie Ibasco of the Manila fire bureau said the blaze reached Task Force Alpha and was declared under control before 2 p.m.
The fire caused traffic jams in the area for several hours, Ibasco said.
In Navotas City, a fire of unknown origin broke out at a residential area along Sampaguita street in Tanza yesterday.
No one was reported injured in the twin fires.
