Updated: 2016-04-22-04:15
Nearly 40 acres of standing wheat crop in the two villages of Hadiabad Ekta Palace area were on Thursday destroyed in a fire, said the police. The fire spread across 40 acres of land in village Mananwali and Nawapind, causing crop loss of lakhs of rupees, they said. The affected farmers alleged that fire flames came galloping from adjoining villages Daulatpur-Salarpur and engulfed their crop fields. The villagers and one fire tender prevented the fire from spreading to other wheat fields, police said, adding the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
