KATHMANDU: At least five incidents of fire were reported from various places of Kathmandu Valley on Friday and Saturday.

The Kimdol forest in Swayambhu had caught fire today. Police and two fire engines jointly doused the wildfire.

Likewise, the Kiriyaputri Bhawan, a building for death ritual observers, in the Pashupatinath area, caught fire today.

Police said the fire destroyed some furniture of the building’s counter.

In another incident, an electronic short circuit in a refrigerator sparked fire in a grocery shop in Imadol, Mahalaxmi-17 of Lalitpur.

The fire at the Ishan Grocery Store, operated by Ishwor Karki, destroyed property worth Rs 5 million, according to police.

A fire in the Ikudol jungle in Bhettedanda on the outskirts of Kathmandu destroyed a house and a cowshed owned by Hira Mani Ghorasaini.

The buildings, however, were unattended as they were partly damaged by the last year earthquake.

A forest area in Dakshinkali Municipality-5 also caught fire yesterday.

Fire engines and a police team deployed from the Metropolitan Police Sector, Gongabu, controlled the fire.

Local police stations are looking into all cases.
