One killed as fire breaks out in Gulmi village

GULMI: A man was killed and one other was injured in a fire that broke out at Badagaun VDC in Gulmi on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as Mehar Singh Rakaskoti and the injured as Keshar bahadur Nepali.
Rakaskoti was burnt to death in his attempt to contain the inferno that engulfed human settlements at Badagaun VDC-1 and 2, local people said.
A nearby wildfire fanned by winds swept through the settlement, causing the causality and property losses, informed locals.
Assistant Sub Inspector Ganesh Shrish said that Nepal Police, Nepal Army, Armed Police Force and locals were struggling to douse the inferno in lack of sufficient water.
It has been reported that fifty houses were reduced to ashes. However, Police said that exact losses caused by the fire are yet to be ascertained.
