Over 40 houses gutted in fire in Odisha’s Dhenkanal village

More than 40 houses were gutted in a major fire that broke out at a village in Dhenkanal district on Monday. No loss of life was reported in the fire, police sources said.
According to Gondia fire station’s assistant fire officer Banabihari Pradhan, fire from a thatched house broke out immediately and engulfed 40 houses before it doused by fire fighters.
After the incident, fire officials from Bhuban and Gondia fire stations reached the spot at 3.15pm with four fire fighting vehicles. Around 16 fire personnel were pressed into the service, official sources said.
“It took more than five hours to contain the fire. Though reason of the fire is yet to be known, people suspect short circuit behind the fire breakout. People have lost all their households as they couldn’t get time to recover it,” Pradhan said.
