Gas explosion starts blaze in downtown Yangon

The fire spread from Piti Clinic to several adjacent apartments.
A GAS explosion in Kantawkalay Ward in Mingalataungnyunt Township, Yangon, caused a fire that destroyed at least five apartments on Sunday evening.
According to the police investigation, the flame started at a clinic called Piti on Thein Phyu Road. The blaze spread quickly to the adjacent apartments, including a restaurant called ShwePyiSoe.
With the assistance of over 120 Red Cross members, the fire was brought under control by about 300 firefighters with 38 fire engines and 19 auxiliary vehicles within 50 minutes.
One firefighter was reportedly injured while trying to extinguish the fire. Police are still investigating the owner of the clinic.
