Fire breaks out in civil supplies department office

A major fire broke out in the civil supplies department’s sector 10 offices on Wednesday afternoon. It was a tragedy waiting to happen according to officials. The fire began in the conference room of the office, fire officials claim.
The reasons, explain fire department officials, was a short circuit in the main electric panel of the conference room.
When asked whether there were fire safety equipment around, Gandhinagar fire officials said, “Yes there were but some could not be operated and the fire department was called in to douse the fire,” says a senior fire official who did not wished to be named. An enquiry has been set up by the civil supplies department to ascertain the quality of wiring within its premises.
