Foul play suspected in panchayat bhawan fire

Important and confidential government records were gutted when a fire broke out at Panchayat Bhawan in Banthara on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday and probe team have pointed at sabotage. A portion of the building collapsed as a result. Police are trying to establish the circumstances which led to the incident.
On Wednesday morning, a local saw a portion of the Panchayat Bhawan damaged and furniture kept inside gutted.
Chief development officer of Lucknow Prashant Sharma said that for a long time there had been complaints against Dileep Yadav a fair price dealer, so it had been decided to remove him after the April 27 meeting. which was to be held on April 27. “A night before the meeting, there was news of the fire which led to the meeting being called off. I ordered chief fire safety officer to investigate the case and those found guilty, will be booked. If the pradhan is found involved a case will be register under Panchayat Raj Act,” said Sharma.
“Final picture will emerge once forensic experts who have visited the spots file the report on what led to the fire,” said chief fire safety officer Abhay Bhaan Pandey.
Forensic team has observed that the building was set ablazeto destroy government records, said Sarojninagar sub divisional magistrate Prem Ranjan.
