Updated: 2016-05-04-06:52
A fire incident was reported at tatkal ticket booking counter at Habibganj railway station on Tuesday morning, resulting in panic among passengers waiting at the booking counter. The incident took place at 11am, when the tatkal bookings had just started for sleeper class.
There were few minutes left for the booking to start when the ceiling fan in the hall caught fire due to a short circuit and clerks and passengers started runing out. However, as the fire was contained, normalcy was restored soon.
According to the information from railway staff, some of the police personnel posted on Simhastha duty were staying in retiring room near the second entry of building and there was a seepage reported. The leaking water reached the wires of fan that led to a spark.
Incident affected booking work for about 30 minutes. GRP SHO VS Chauhan said there was no major damage caused to anybody and fire was controlled soon.
