Fire breaks out in Namsam

A fire broke out on 1st May at a monastery in Kun Hal village, Kun Hal village-tract, Namsam Township, Palaung Self Administrative Region, Northern Shan State. The fire was caused by electric short circuits.
The blaze destroyed ancient buildings including the ordination hall, a main building of the monastery, rest house and a nunnery hall. With the assistance of neighbours, the fire was brought under control by fire fighters with 3 fire engines from fire services departments in Namsam Township.
It also evacuated the three monks, two novices and four nuns to the monastery of Man Ngai village.
