Rs 20L property lost in shop fire

A fire sparked from a suspected short circuit gutted a scrap shop at Sembakkam near Tambaram on Friday night, causing 20 lakh loss of property. Three two wheelers were also gutted. By the time fire tenders from Tambaram reached the spot, the fire had spread to three adjacent houses. There was no casualty.
Boy drowns in quarry, sister missing: A 13-year-old boy who went for a swim with his sister, 10, to a stone quarry near Pazhavanthangal drowned on Friday. Fire and rescue services personnel fished out the body of Hariharan, a resident of Bajanai Koil Street in Madipakkam. His sister Arathi is also feared to be dead as her body is yet to be traced.
Fire at furniture shop near Kodambakkam: Fire at a furniture shop damaged more than 10 lakh worth of items near Kodambakkam on Saturday. Police suspect the possible cause of the accident was an electrical short circuit. Three fire tenders from Ashok Nagar, Guindy and Saidapet put down the fire. No one was injured in the accident.
