Gomtinagar building set on fire
Updated: 2016-05-09-01:03
A double-storey complex in Vivek Khand II, Gomtinagar, was gutted after unidentified miscreants set the building on fire around 3.30am on Sunday.
While no witnesses were found, the cameras installed at the premises could not capture the accident.
The police said that the owner of the complex, Umang Gyaan Chandani, and the his tenant, Reshma, were involved in a bitter property dispute from February.
Reshma had rented the complex and was running a computer training centre on the first floor and a boutique on the ground floor, for over a decade. Chandani took over the property after his father passed away last year and had asked Reshma to vacate the premises. Circle officer of Gomtinagar, deputy SP Satyasen Yadav said, “Both the sides have been trading charges and have lodged FIRs against each other.”
On Sunday morning, both Reshma and Chandani made fresh complaints to the police, pointing fingers at each other for hatching a conspiracy.
Amarendra Singh, who stays on the opposite side of the road, said the police should have resolved the issue much earlier. “Tomorrow, someone can throw bombs and innocent people can get fatally injured because of such negligence,” he added.
