Records turn to ashes in power corpbuilding fire

A fire broke out on the ninth floor of UPPCL building on Ashok Marg on Monday morning. Flames engulfed the accounts section around 8.30am, when the office was shut, and it took two fire tenders over an hour to put out the fire completely.
Firemen gained entry to the burning portion of the building through hydraulic platform and managed to contain the flames before they could spread to other rooms on the same floor. Officer incharge of Hazratganj fire station Chandrashekhar Yadav said the fire destroyed several government records and room number 915 was completely gutted. The damaged articles included a computer and other electronic devices.
Yadav said the fire was triggered by a short-circuit in the wiring of the building.
