Fire guts valuables in Ctg

A portion of the ground floor of a two-storey building was gutted in Chandgaon area of Chittagong yesterday.
The fire had originated from an electric short circuit at a room of the floor around 8:45am and soon engulfed two adjacent rooms of it, said officials of Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters in Chittagong.
On information, a fire-fighting unit from Kalurghat rushed to the spot and doused the blaze at around 9:45am, he said.
Fire officials estimated the damage at Tk 3 lakh.
