School buses gutted down in fire

As many as four school buses parked in the yard of a school at Neyyatinkara were completely gutted down in a fire break out on Friday evening. The incident occurred on the parking yard of Viswabharathi Public School, Neyyatinkara.
The Fire and Rescue Services officials said that they received the distress call at 7.15 pm. Three units of fire tenders from the Neyyatinkara Fire and Rescue Services station and one unit from Parassala station were immediately pressed into service. The team had to toil for approximately an hour and a half to douse the flames.
Besides four buses that were fully gutted, a few more were partially damaged in the fire. There were 12 buses parked on the yard.
The officials also said that the reason for the fire was unknown. It could be a short circuit in the battery that caused the fire. But that had to be examined and confirmed by scientific experts.
The rescue officials also said that the security staff of the school were very late in detecting the fire. It was not possible for the fire to completely gut four buses instantly. This meant that there was lapse from security personnel of the school. Each bus was worth between Rs 16 to 20 lakhs. Meanwhile, the police have also registered a case in this regard and launched a probe.
